Third-year BS Data Science and Applications student at IIT Madras with hands-on experience building retail and warehouse systems, improving operational workflows, and working with sales, inventory, and product data. Since April 2025, I have worked independently on projects across retail and e-commerce businesses, helping convert manual and Excel-based processes into structured web-based applications and reporting workflows. Apr 2025 - Present

Selected work across approximately 12 retail and e-commerce businesses, including TWIN BIRD, HOUSE OF VEDAS, MEERANSHI, LITE STORE, RICK ROGUE, YAYA and ACKROSS.

Designed and deployed web-based applications and operational workflows covering POS, warehouse management, order processing, returns, barcode scanning, reporting and inventory control.
Worked on solution design, implementation, deployment, user training and production support, with growing direct exposure to business owners and operational users.
Analyzed retail sales, inventory and product data to support replenishment, stock movement, ageing, sell-through, turnover and store-level decision-making.
Supported practical retail operations across billing, goods inward/outward, physical stock, picking, packing, dispatch and return handling.

Selected Systems & Projects

Point-of-Sale (POS) / Retail Operations Platform

Built a web-based retail application from scratch with approximately 70 screens across 9 modules.
Implemented billing, returns, discounts, inventory, goods inward/outward, physical stock, barcode scanning, master data, multi-store support and role-based user access.
Production use has processed more than 20,000 bills and supports day-to-day usage by approximately 30-40 employees.
Replaced Excel-heavy stock and inward/outward processes with centralized records that can be searched, tracked and reported directly from the system.
Designed lightweight scan workflows with fast response times for practical store use.

Warehouse Management System (WMS)

Built a warehouse system covering purchase orders, ASN, goods received, goods inward, inventory tracking, picking, packing, invoicing, dispatch, store transfers, returns, physical stock, barcode scanning and reporting.
Designed for operations involving roughly 30,000-40,000 SKUs and around 1 million inventory records.
Supported peak operating volumes of approximately 300 orders per day and around 5,000 orders in a peak month.
Integrated barcode-scanner workflows, printer support and marketplace-connected operational flows.
Improved stock visibility by showing what stock is available, what has moved, and where products are stored after processing.

E-Commerce Barcode-Validated Packing

Built a packing validation flow that converts daily order files into batches and generates picker lists containing product and location details.
Uses product-first barcode validation, where the correct order is identified from the scanned item and non-order barcodes are rejected.
Requires every item in an order to be scanned before the packing document is produced, helping reduce style and size cross-packing errors.
Currently supports roughly 150-200 orders per day in live warehouse use.

Return Scan & Automatic Video Recording System

Built a desktop return-recording workflow where scanning a tracking or AWB barcode automatically starts camera recording.
Saves each recording using the tracking number as the file name, organized inside date-based folders, with searchable indexing for later retrieval.
Automatically stops or switches recording when the next tracking number is scanned, with manual stop also available.
Used for return workflows handling approximately 50-100 returns per day.

Geo-Tagged Attendance Tracking System

Built a mobile-based attendance system with geo-tagged employee check-in and check-out, currently used across 100+ stores tracked every day.
Enforces a configurable location radius for each assigned store or workplace, preventing attendance capture when an employee is outside the permitted area.
Provides dashboards for daily check-in/check-out status, attendance records and total working hours for each employee.
Includes weekly-off and leave tracking to support day-to-day workforce attendance management.

Data Analytics & Machine Learning (ML)

Work with retail sales, stock, product and store data using metrics such as sell-through, inventory turnover, weeks of cover, stock-to-sales ratio, ageing, stockout rate, fill rate and return rate.
Use recent sales velocity and stock availability to support replenishment and inter-store stock allocation decisions based on demand context.
Developing an XGBoost-based sales forecasting prototype using 500 days of historical data, with experiments at SKU, daily, weekly and monthly levels.
Currently extending the forecasting workflow toward one-month-ahead prediction; the model is still under development and not yet used in production decision-making.
Delivered analytics support for reporting, product performance, restocking and inventory review across retail client environments.

Retail & Operations Knowledge

Inventory & Replenishment: demand-based replenishment, stock transfers, sell-through, turnover, weeks of cover, ageing, stockout and return-rate analysis.

Warehouse Flow: PO, ASN, goods receipt, inwarding, picking, packing, invoicing, dispatch, returns, physical stock and barcode validation.

Store Coordination: inward follow-up, shortage investigation, stock allocation, low-selling stock review and warehouse/store escalation.

Process Improvement: replacing manual and Excel workflows with structured, traceable operational systems.
